Bois Court is situated at Plaine des Cafres. From the viewpoint you’ll catch a spectacular view of Grand Bassin - a small village located 600 meters deep down in a valley. There are some habitations there and the hamlet is regularly supplied with necessities from a freight elevator. At times a helicopter fly cargo down the valley. Nearby there is a water clock.
For those who like hiking, going to the village from the belvédère de Bois Court, along a trail bordered with bushes, will last about one and a half hour. Climbing up back will take twice as much time or more.
Nez De Boeuf: from the mountainous peak which is 2136 meters above sea level the place is the finest one for a spectacular view of Rivière des Remparts valley and Piton des Neiges.
Commerson Crater: the volcanic crater was formed about 2000 years back following a magmatic explosion of rare intensity. It is 200 meters wide and 120 meters deep.
La Plaine des Sables: after crossing the volcano forest road along Plaine des Remparts, you suddenly catch a view of Plaine des Sables. It looks like an alien environment and often described as a lunar expanse with its reddish and black soil. Some scenes from the Planète des Singes (Planet of The Apes) movie were filmed here. The road to Pas de Bellecombe turns into a drive through a chaotic decor with exploded basalt rocks scattered everywhere.

Le Pas de Bellecombe: at 2311 meters elevation point, the view of Volcan de la Fournaise (Fouqué and Léo craters) is mind blowing. Le Col de Bellevue: the panoramic view of Plaine des Palmistes from the col is of exceptional beauty. It is also an ideal place for picnics. The mountainous tropical vegetation is luxuriant. Bassin La Paix is located in Rivière des Roches Valley. A magnificent waterfall tumbles into a large rock pool. The place is a wonderful picnic spot. |
Le Temple du Colosse: Located at Saint-André, the magnificent Hindu temple is dedicated to Goddess Pandialé (also known as Goddess Dolvédé). Religious and fire walking ceremonies devoted to godesses Kali and Mariamen are held every year.
Cascade Niagara is a 55 meters waterfall from the waters of Rivière de Sainte-Suzanne.The view is spectacular and the surrounding is an ideal place for swimming and picnic gatherings.
